Kt is a 20-year-old Irish Australian singer songwriter raised in the beautiful Wicklow mountains and currently living in Leeds honing her craft studying BA (Hons) Popular Music at Leeds Conservatoire.
Playful yet introspective, her songs embrace her favourite aspects from her classical training in voice, piano and composition and reflects her love of Jazz, Blues and Pop. Taking inspiration from artists like Kaleo, Ray Charles, Amy Winehouse, Adele and Etta James to name but a few, Kt has created her own unique blend with haunting melodies, deeply personal lyrics and a sassy sense of fun. After working with the brilliant producer, Gavin Ralston at Silverwood Studios (R.I.P) on ‘Save yourself’, he described her as, ‘a distinctive musical voice, like Dolores O’Riordan from The Cranberries’.
Her soulful sounds speak of messy breakups, self-doubt and loss. Songs like ‘Save Yourself’, and Goodbye Farewell featuring CAMMY, are raw, mature and heartfelt. With a relaxed vibe, ‘2 Minute Guy’ cheekily reflects on a women’s unmet sexual needs and is a call to all women to speak up for what they want.
Kt is accomplished at ballet, drama and musical theatre and has been performing in choirs and studying music since age 5. In 2013, for performance in singing and piano, she was awarded a Wesley College music scholarship. She studied classical voice under Mary Brennan, piano under Izumi Kimura and composition under Dr. Jesse Ronneau. A love of fantasy literature and poetry sparked an interest in lyric writing which was an easy jump into songwriting.
Kt is now preparing to release her debut EP, Pixels, produced by ‘Leasha C’. The songs of Pixels, draw on scattered fragments from different experiences, with magnetic powerful vocals at its core. The tracks never lose sight of Kt’s desire to relate as a mate, to be a pressure tonic and to be an advocate for female empowerment. Currently, she is recording a new single in Windmill Lane Studios to be released before her EP, collaborating with other songwriters and lining up gigs with other musicians from Leeds Conservatoire.
‘…unique sense of 'harmonic twists' that attest to the innateness of her talent. These ‘twists’ not only display an original ear but an artistic daring so lacking in today’s world.’ Dr. Jesse Ronneau
‘…imaginative and expressive musician and songwriter’ Izumi Kimura
‘…intelligent and musical …very committed to her singing ... a gifted composer’ Mary Brennan
