Having trained in London and Ireland, Cork born vocalist Laoise Leahy developed into one of the most accomplished and versatile singers on the Irish jazz and pop scenes. She has performed and recorded with the likes of Bon Iver, Sam Beste (Amy Winehouse), Damon Albarn, Dermot Kennedy, Damien Rice, Alex Somers, Gilbert O’ Sullivan, Efterklang, The Staves, Cormac Mc Carthy, Jack O’ Rourke and many others.
Incorporating unique interpretations of contemporary jazz and soul material she has honed over the years, Laoise recorded and released original music to great acclaim and worldwide airplay, with her debut ‘Girl’ (August 2022), following with ‘Safe’ (July 2023) and ‘Starlight’ (October 2023) - the final of a trilogy. Laoise served as Jazz Artist in residence at Cork Opera House 2023 and as a resident artist at the ‘Sounds from a Safe Harbour’ Festival 2023.
Also an avid music educator, in 2011 she co-founded Cork’s first specialist contemporary vocal tuition centre ‘Voiceworks Studio’ with colleague and renowned vocalist and educator, Gemma Sugrue and currently lectures at the MTU Cork School of Music, specialising in pop and jazz vocal performance on degree and postgraduate level courses.
Laoise is now launching as a solo artist to continue her performance career and regularly performs with her own band and ensembles such as New Irish Jazz Orchestra, RTE Concert Orchestra, Cork Concert Orchestra among others and she has toured throughout Europe.
