Llama Cult

Folk // Malahide, Dublin

Llama Cult is an indie folk band co-lead by singer-songwriter duo Karl Tuohy and Donagh Kelly. The pair began making music together in 2022 as a duo and since then have written and performed over 50 tunes together, developing both their own personal styles and their sound as a band. They began playing shows in Dublin soon after forming, and have since expanded the live ensemble to include Al Power (drums), Norah Stevens (violin) and Eoin Roebuck (guitar).

Despite differing stylistically from the wave of heavy indie-rock bands that are prevalent in the scene, their low-key, thoughtful musings have proved to resonate with audiences. They recently played a sold-out comeback show at Whelans, and headlined the upstairs stage on Friday night of Whelans 'Ones to Watch'. Their debut single, Western Side, has achieved popularity on streaming despite being home-grown on a budget, and has proven to be an earworm and fan-favourite at live shows.

With their large back-catalogue of music just itching to be released, an infectious live energy and a unique take on the concept of the 'folk singer', Llama Cult have nowhere to go but up. All that's left now is to indoctrinate the world.
