“A serious one to watch”
“A compelling new force in Irish music”
Hotpress Magazine 2022
"An amazing song." - Stephen McCauley, BBC Radio Ulster (About Devices) 2018
Lucy Robinson, formerly known as nicha, formerly known as Lucy Robinson, is very indecisive. The 25 year old Northern Irish native, born and bred in Co. Down took the scene by storm with her debut single Devices in 2018 – a song about our society being addicted to our phones. Soon after came little bird and saltwater song, two hauntingly beautiful tracks that also saw a lot of attention. Little bird is a brilliant cocktail of folk and electronica which Lucy actually wrote in response to Foy Vance's "She Burns". She takes a lot of her inspiration from her neighbour and fellow Co. Down artist. Saltwater Song tells the story of an unrequited love from the side of the "villain". In a beautiful and wash of harmonies, thoughtful lyrics and a subtle, tasteful humour, it's a song that you want to play until the record breaks.
On the horizon we have an exciting new release called mumbo jumbo set to hit the scene in early May 2023 and much more to come. This budding young artist has recently been signed to independent, Leeds based label; Monomyth Records who are very lucky to have her.
Lucy has been about for a mere hot minute and has already been critically acclaimed by some big names, drawing attention from BBC Radio Ulster’s Stephen McCauley, RTE 2 FM’s Dan Hegarty, BBC West York’s Em Pilbeam, Hot Press, Toronto 88 and FLUX FM Berlin. Named as “a serious one to watch” by Hotpress Magazine, stay chooned for more exciting releases on the horizon…*Cough* April 2023 *cough*…
Lucy played a huge gig last year at the Dubai Expo Amphitheatre after winning the Ed Sheeran Lowden Take the Stage Competition and was also named the Dawson's Young Singer-Songwriter of the year 2019.
In the wise words of Hotpress Magazine... A serious one to watch!
