M'ANAM ("My Soul" in the Irish language), is a seven voice group of men based in Iceland and Ireland that combines the shared heritages of two ancient cultures in unique and compelling ways. Their voices have created a sound-world for our modern times. They came together in 2018 and released their eponymous debut album in November 2019, followed in 2021 by the EP smidiríní. M'ANAM's music and performances evoke a unique landscape of sound, melodic echoes rooted in the contrasting natural environments of both countries.
Their music fuses and words of long - dead Icelandic and Irish writers with contemporary sensibility, with stories that include extracts from the Viking Hávamál, and the words of medieval Irish authors. This year 2022 has reignited their singular journey to express ideas of culture and shared heritages with a new forthcoming album (recorded in Iceland and Ireland) and began with a sold-out performances as part of Dublin’s Tradfest 2022 Festival and Iþnó in Reykjavík.
Just prior to the pandemic, M’ANAM had begun international touring with performances in Belgium at Les Nuit de Choeurs, across the Netherlands and as headliners at the Glasgow Celtic Connections jointly with ANÚNA. Subsequent Japanese and Canadian tours had to be postponed.
They have featured on the soundtrack of the animated feature created by Blizzard Entertainment entitled "Warbringers: Jaina", part of a series of short films serving as a prelude to World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. Japanese Jazz Fusion band mouse on the keys collaborated with them on "Clarity" the opening track from their highly successful album tres.
