Michael Kerr

BIO

Michael Kerr is a full-time working musician and singer/songwriter from Belfast. Whilst making a living on the local Northern Irish circuit, Michael has been slowly building his portfolio as a singer/songwriter and he has really came to the fore following the release of his 2018 EP, 'Treasure Chest'. Since that release, Michael has supported artists such as Steve Earle, John Oates, Hothouse Flowers and he's also been playlisted on local commercial radio stations as well as a play on Radio 1s Introducing. Influenced by the likes of Noel Gallagher, Van Morrison, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty, his songwriting has evolved to form melody driven songs on a foundation of swelling guitars and heartfelt lyrics.

Recent History

In 2018, following the release of 'Treasure Chest', Michael was invited to New York City to meet various music studios from the commercial and advertising sectors of the music industry by Dani Ostrowski of Modern Post. Here he got to meet and pitch my music to producers who work on shows for Netflix and adverts for major brands including Lexus and Apple. These meetings and contacts were further developed in 2019 and whilst in New York, Michael played shows in Rockwood Music Hall and The Red Lion where he also met Fred Dreier who used to book all major shows for Madison Square Gardens and introduced him to Billy Joel’s management and publishing team at a Billy Joel Show backstage in Madison Square Gardens. Michael was then introduced to John Platania (Van Morrisons guitarist on ‘Moondance’ and ‘Astral Weeks’) who invited him to his studio in Woodstock NYC and also Clubhouse Studios in Rhinebeck NYC to help develop his skills as a songwriter and performer which he was able to take advantage of thanks to the Arts Council Travel Grant and the Help Musicians Transmission Fund in February 2020. Those funds also enabled Michael to meet Glenn Goldstein (Concord Music Publishing, Owner Double G Studios) in NYC who has since been working with Michael for his new release in August/Sept 2021.

In Jan 2020, Michael also attended and performed at the Folk Alliance International Festival in New Orleans where met Stacy Taylor who is actively guiding and improving my online presence through her company Taylor Entertainment Group based in Florida.
