Mike The Martian

Mike The Martian is an artist from Letterkenny, Donegal! He has been writing and performing from the age of 13 in local punk/rock bands. Even having a song he had written taken to the IYMA’s finals in 2015. Taking a creative turn to rap music in 2017. Utilising a second-hand MacBook Pro to record over free beats Mike made it his goal to create a new atmosphere in his local scene. From 2017-2018 Mike had written an array of music trying to find his spot in the scene. Writing 3 unreleased mixtapes and 3 EPs. Mike’s first official release the ‘Yuh’ EP featured distorted 808s and flashy flows alongside dark lyrics about drug abuse and the party lifestyle. Mike’s first official Mixtape ‘Take A Trip’ released in 2019 has a more retrospective look at similar situations laid out in the ‘Yuh’ EP. Often feeling aggressive yet colourful with dark trap beats and melodic flows -the ‘Take A Trip’ Mixtape tells a story of the party lifestyle and all its imperfections. The slow decay of the distortion and aggression in the second half of the mixtape and the change in which Mike portrays this situations in his lyrics shows a dramatic change in the character and shows the effects taking a piece of him. Through 2020 Mike has released multiple singles such as ‘Far From Home’, ‘Moonlight Pt II Ft Aaron Everything’ and Hear Me Now (feat. Aaron Everything) Releasing his second mixtape ‘Ego Death’ on March 1st 2021. Mike is releasing ‘Sophomore Slump’ his third mixtape in April 2022
