Mixmastermelonhead

Sean Jones, known as Mixmastermelonhead, is an electronic music producer and live performer who creates underground dance music in a range of styles, including techno, house, future bass, electro, and phonk. He is co-executive producer of This Is Darija House - an upcoming LP set to define the emerging genre. Renowned vocalists and producers Kira7, T9il, and River from Plug Studios in Casablanca, among other notable figures in the Maghreb hiphop scene have signed on.

His productions have generated interest in as varied outposts as The Underground Collective (hardcore techno) in Berlin, who released the first Darija House track outside of Morocco.

Sean grew up in Hong Kong - where his Irish father taught social work at the same university as when he was a Jesuit priest - and the US before moving to Europe.

MixmasterMelonhead now spends much of his time in Studio47Fz at Dar Carmela, a 500-year old house in the ancient medina of Fez, Morocco. His solo work overlaps with Ketama 47, a project he founded to create Darija House, an emerging dance music genre integrates vocals in Moroccan Arabic from popular figures in the Moroccan hiphop underground.
