Monday's Child

Rock // Belfast, Antrim // n/a

Alternative rock band Monday’s Child consists of McKay sisters Jen (vocals), Lauren (guitar), Clara (bass), and friend Caitlin Lenfestey (drums). The sisters grew up in a musical household, introduced by their parents to classic rock and blues. Their music blends grungy, upbeat rock with moody, ethereal pieces. Major influences include The Breeders, Queens of the Stone Age, Hole, Jeff Buckley and Alice in Chains.

The band have been busy playing shows around Ireland over the last year, including support slots with acclaimed Irish acts like Pillow Queens and Hothouse Flowers. They released the new single ‘Problem Girl' in February 2025, the first from their debut EP due in May 2025. Problem Girl was featured as Loud Women’s ‘Single of the Week’, also receiving mentions from Blowtorch Records, The Thin Air, and GoldenPlec, as well as airplay on RTE 2FM and BBC Radio Ulster. Monday's Child played a slot at the Output Belfast Showcase in November 2024, and were included in Hot Press magazines ‘Hot for 2025’ list, as one of the Irish artists ‘primed to make a major impact over the next 12 months’.

Their latest single, 'Love, You'll Figure It Out' is set for release on Thursday 3rd April 2025.
