moon came as a simple idea to two friends with a common interest in 80's cinema, french pop music and japanese literature: a band without constraints.
Pete (Meighan, producer of North Atlantic Oscillation, guitarist/engineer of Couse and The Impossible) met Spud (Murphy, producer/writer/frontman of Hybrasil) while they were studying in Dublin. They found they had a lot in common as they worked together, eventually co-producing the Hybrasil album "The Monkey Pole".
Time passed, as it does, and eventually they found themselves writing together in late 2009.
With the results - a kind of desert music mixed with a collage-like blend of electronics - they appeared to have carved a niche all for themselves.
With a view toward performing live, yet wanting to keep things homegrown, they enlisted the help of cellist/bass player Eimear O'Grady (One Day International, Declan O'Rourke) and drummer Keith Byrne (Hybrasil) as both performers and writers. Moon had landed.
The band do all the creative and technical work related to their music themselves, in their Dublin and Wicklow studios. At the live shows they combine their music with self-made short films and live visuals under the control of video artist Alan Gill, hoping to make every show unique and unpredictable.
