Ever been betrayed by a kiss? Well buddy, we all have our problems and you won’t get any sympathy here. From this town-without-cheer comes My Evil Ex. Born and bred in these despairingly bland times My Evil Ex lash out and create their own unique offering – the stab of 70’s Punk, the thrust of 50’s Jazz and the scream of 30’s Delta Blues. The My Evil Ex sound has been described as ‘Punk goes to New Orleans’ (Derek Leahy – Sofa Records)
“Intelligent lyrics, finely crafted songs and strong vocal and musical arrangements…My Evil Ex are a band to watch.”
Colm O’Sullivan – Red FM. (RedFM.ie)
“They are tight and proficient and proceed to woo us with a full, well-paced set of intelligent indie-rock. The fact that this reviewer came away from their set without obvious comparisons is usually a good sign. He'll happily give My Evil Ex a second look in the future.”
Tim Peacock – whisperinandhollerin.com
“My Evil Ex's most recent EP 'The Dark Days' and its launch gig have sent out very clear signals that this band needs to be taken seriously. They are no strangers to the Freakscene Birthday parties. It’s hard not to book them; they just really know how to rock!”
Alan Fadd – Freakscene (www.freakscene.com)
"Murphy's Live 2008 kicked off in An Brog, Cork to a capacity crowd. The gig opened with local band My Evil Ex. Their short, punchy set was as intense as it was theatrical. Lead singer Dylan Fitzgerald shouted through a megaphone while the band churned a mix of blues, rock and oddity." - Murphy's Live 2008

‘Legendary’
Dennis ‘The Menace’ – Red Fm
My Evil Ex are bored to tears with the current musical trend of bands Xeroxing and name-dropping older bands who were already out-of-date before these new bands were born.
My Evil Ex prefer to look outside current musical trends to Film Noir, abstract art, animation & photography to be creative and innovate. This gives them a Stanley-blade sharp edge in a much burned out musical world.
My Evil Ex love the roar of grease paint and the smell of the crowd and are known and respected on the live circuit for shows that are always tight, energetic and (something that seems to be lacking these days) entertaining. My Evil Ex have played support to such diverse groups as JJ72 and Vinny Peculiar (containing Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce of The Smiths) on their Irish tours and played the Cork date of the 2fm 2moro 2our and are the only band to, consecutively over 5 years, blow the roof of the Freakscene Birthday Party (Ireland’s longest running club night).
"We’ve all been betrayed by a kiss, and though we’re not your friends, we still care."
