Nightshade is the nom de guerre of lo-fi alternative folk artist Matthew Lyons. After recording a bedroom EP (Pray) and Album (Before Our Time) while the outside world was on hiatus Nightshade took to gigging around Galway and sharing their original music. Taking inspiration from old folk and blues artists such as Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, and Leonard Cohen to name a few, Nightshade creates a deeply intimate atmosphere with their songs where all are welcome to share in the experience.
Ranging a diverse list of genres Nightshade seamlessly weaves between acoustic folk and blues to more modern sounding indie and psychedelia influenced songs.
Nightshade has gigged extensively around the Galway Music scene, playing their original songs in nearly every venue within the city. This included a weekly residency with 2 hours of Nightshade songs and some lesser known covers that spanned over 8 months.
Now in Dublin and looking to make a name for themselves in the capital Nightshade is going from strength to strength within the community of poets, musicians, and storytellers of Ireland
