“Novella Hermosa really make this writer's afternoon. Led by Wexford man Luke Cosgrave (also the super-talented fiddler with Ian Whitty & The Exchange), they are bursting with the sort of tough'n'tuneful guitar pop this writer hears far too little of these days”

“Even the briefest exposure to their songs is enough to tell you there's something exciting afoot here – the eminently catchy 'Broken Glass' and 'Look What You've Done!’ a bittersweet plea to respect your fellow man – are eloquent, wise and come with hooks you can't get out of your head with a crowbar”

Luke Cosgrave formed Novella Hermosa in Cork, 2009. Originally from Wexford, he was 6 years old when he first started learning the violin and his love of music was ignited. He has been exploring the rich and varied sounds of the violin - and later the electric guitar - ever since. After hitting the gig circuit a few years ago Luke has been constantly experimenting, recording and performing live with his band Novella Hermosa as well as Ian Whitty and The Exchange in venues and festivals across the country sharing the stage with acts such as The Magic Numbers, Fred, Florence and the Machine, The Villagers, John Spillanne, Freddie White and Kila.
His music is rooted, exciting and, with the added flare of colourful electric violin playing combined with true and honest lyrics, he has created something very different and special. There is nothing complicated about the sound as Luke says himself, “We want to give listeners the feeling that they have just been power hosed with a brand new sound even though it’s still good old fashioned rock”
In Oct 2012 Novella Hermosa will be launching their debut EP titled The Great Divide
