Oceanna is a modern instrumental jazz ensemble based in Dublin with a mixture of Irish, Brazilian and French musicians. Described by The Goo Dublin Magazine as “a blend of psychedelia and smooth jazz”, the band released its debut track 'Noir' in May 2022. Oceanna have been a part of the growing Jazz and Soul scene in Ireland lately, collaborating with Dublin poet Fiona O'Loughlin in early 2023, their alternative version of their debut single,'From The Sea' was featured by Hot Press Magazine as their track of the day.
In 2023’s collaboration with Neo Soul artist Qbanaa, Oceanna supported shows by artists Ruby Waters and RnB singer Liv.e in their individual European tours as well as performing shows for District Magazine’s ‘The Future of Irish Music’, Peter Curtin’s Primavolta Limerick and at Body & Soul Festival.
Oceanna shared their most recent single, Koldunai, in November 2023 ahead of the release of their self-titled EP this year. Inspired by the UK modern jazz movement and giving off vibes of Kokoroko and Yussef Dayes at times, the track boasts ‘angelic like vocals’ and was featured by Peter Curtin of RTE 2XM and on Nialler9’s Best New Irish Music Playlist.
To round off 2023, the band hosted a release show in Whelans with support from Melina Malone. According to Ethan Golding’s live review, the performance evoked a ‘spiritual feeling and a true sense of connection’, which defines Oceanna’s unique sound that is to be expected when their Debut EP releases this summer.
