Paulie Martin is a well-established local musician based in Mullingar. A familiar face to most
and a recognizable voice and guitar player to the rest. His influences range across multiple
genres but his roots lie deep in Blues, Funk and Rock. Drawing inspiration from artists such as
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gary Clark Jr, Sublime, Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher and more.
Paulie began playing guitar at a young age before joining the local gig scene in Mullingar. The first big
push was made along side Gerard Kiernan and Fionn O’Donohoe in the form of original band
Ricotta Rojo. During this time Paulie started writing and playing as a solo artist, headlining
and supporting multiple gigs between the two. Highlights included Whelans One’s To Watch, Midnight Sessions, and the pinnacle, Electric Picnic.
In 2018/19, Paulie also had 3 spectacular sold out gigs in the form of “Paulie Martin & Friends” at local Mullingar venues, Canton Casey’s and The Stables at Smiddys bar.
As the lockdown kicked in in 2020, Paulie released his eagerly anticipated EP, entitled “Ricotta Rojo” as a tribute to his old original act of the same name. The EP features 3 tracks of mixed genres, fusing blues, funk and rock together while bringing soulful grooves, storytelling and a smidge of rocking out to
everyone’s ears. The EP became available on May the 4th on all digital platforms such as
Spotify, Google Music, iTunes and Apple Music.
On April 27th 2021, Paulie released his latest single Rhythm of the Moon on all platforms.
In November 2021, production began on what aim's to be his first full length release, an 8 track album.
In the midst of all the album work, Paulie managed to be a part of the Westmeath County Council LLP Program where he managed to get a days recording in Grouse Lodge. Paulie released his latest single, 'Cherokee Rose' in June 2022, which was recorded with the amazing Alex Borwick.
