Paulie Martin is a staple musician, singer and songwriter in the heart of Ireland, especially within the Mullingar music scene. With an eclectic range of musical taste, his music can range from jazz to rock, blues, funk and pop.
Paulies creativity in music and songwriting began to flow at an early age, getting hooked on guitar and singing every chance he could. His music brings stories of love, excitement and culture through a medium of rhythmic and poetic lyrics, bound with dynamic vocal harmony, acoustic and rock band style music. However, Paulie never lets the boundaries of one genre hold him back, and can approach writing music with a gentle touch or a ferocious energy. His notable performances include Whelans One’s To Watch, Midnight Sessions, Blackstairs Blues Festival and Electric Picnic.
Described in an interview by fellow artist Scally, when asked 'Who is Westmeath's greatest ever musician?' He replied: 'I'll design a hybrid! For the voice, Joe Dolan, for the raw genius talent, Paulie Martin, and for the energy and buzz I choose me(Scally)!'
In 2019, pre covid, Paulie performed three sold-out shows as “Paulie Martin & Friends” at local, Mullingar venues. His highly anticipated EP, titled “Ricotta Rojo” in honour of one of his first original bands, was released on 4th May '20 and is available on various digital platforms. The EP features three blues/rock tracks showcasing solid grooves, catchy hooks and stories of cowboys, indians and the devil himself. Paulie’s single, “Rhythm of the Moon,” was released in April '21, and he celebrated his first sold-out show since the pandemic. In June '22, he released “Cherokee Rose,” a follow-up to his original track “Indian Chief".
Following this release, Paulie entered Rainwater Recording Studios in '22/'23 to work on new material and carry on his musical journey. Due to unforeseen vocal damage in May '23, Paulie took an involuntary hiatus and much needed vocal rest after surgery, until mid 2024, building his vocals back up, as some say better than before. He also used this time off to join Hotpress Magazines MIX course to gain more information, understanding and access to the Irish music scene and beyond. He is now set to release his next single, 'Mind Games', on all streaming platforms from 14/03/2025 with plenty more to follow suit throughout '25 and '26.
