Paul McCann is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Cavan, Ireland. Paul has played many high-profile gigs around the world including the Cavern Club in Liverpool, Nashville, multiple appearances at the Electric Picnic festival and much more. Paul has also performed with Rufus Wainwright, Pugwash, The Strypes, Duncan Maitland (Picturehouse), Sandy Kelly and Nelson Bragg (Brian Wilson Band/Beach Boys), among others.
Following many years of performing with numerous artists and bands (backing songstress Aine Cahill and touring Ireland's Prisons with Johnny Cash tribute ‘Get Rhythm’), Paul has been carving a solid solo career for himself since 2015. Following two acclaimed EPs (The Magician in 2015 and Beginning to End in 2017) and the wonderful murder ballad single ‘Widow Maker Blues’, Paul released his debut album ‘Here Comes the Rapture’ in 2018. The album was met with praise from many reviewers, with The Irish Times’ Tony Clayton-Lea citing: "with his debut offering McCann comes into his own... 10 exuberant songs.... Here Comes the Rapture has flawless influences...McCann delivers a collection of taut tunes.... numerous dingers here that well and truly hum”.
McCann released the first single ‘Lost In This Moment’ off his new upcoming album in mid-October which received over 1,500 streams on Spotify within its first week of release and received rave reviewed from the likes of HotPress, Our Muchness Guide, Our Sound Music, Edgar Allan Poets, Pure Mzine and also got radio play on Near FM, Shannonside FM, LMFM, Dundalk FM, KCLR 96FM, IndyLive Radio and many more.
Following the singles success, he then went on to release his fantastic follow up single ‘Divide and Conquer’ which received high praise from Galway Bay FM, Hotpress, RTE Entertainment, IndyLive Radio, Bombshell Radio, IMRO, Edgar Allan Poets and many more as well as being on RTE RADIO 1’s recommends.
His most recent single ‘Love Is All That Matters’ received high praise and radio play from RTE Radio 1’s Fiachna O’Braonain, track of the week at Finbar Hoban, Dublin South FM, HotPress, Beat 102103 FM, RTE 2XM, Corks Red FM, Edgar Allan Poets, Shannonside FM and may more.
2022 was a year of high success for McCann and he started off 2023 with a bang on his most recent single but now it is full steam ahead to the brand-new album ‘Alter Ego’ dropping this February 17th alongside the brand new single ‘Something has Changed’.
The new record is highly anticipated and is set to make 2023 a monumental year for the Cavan singer.
