Radar

Rock // Edenderry, Offaly // They/He

Radar are an indie rock band from Edenderry comprising Ross Mallen (rhythm guitar/vocals), Alex Barry (lead guitar/backing vocals), Dylan Furlong (bass/backing vocals), and Adam Lewis (drums). Since forming in 2022, we have dedicated ourselves to relentless gigging, playing high-energy shows for the past two and a half years in pubs and venues across the country to develop our own sound and build a loyal following.

INFLUENCES & STYLE
Drawing inspiration from a variety of artists, ranging from The Libertines and Pixies to The Beatles and Bowie, with a dash of Robbie Williams for good measure, Radar’s music is a fusion of raw power, sharp lyricism, and infectious hooks. Our lyrics showcase a knack for vivid storytelling, capturing the chaos and camaraderie of youth.

ACHIEVEMENTS & MILESTONES
• Won Edenderry Festival Busking Competition (2022) – Our first public performance as a band and a major milestone in our early days, beating fierce competition from Thanks Mom and John Gorman, earning the chance to perform on a big stage in our hometown.
• Performed at Major Venues – Including The Button Factory (supporting Guns Reloaded), multiple gigs in The SoundHouse, and shows in multiple venues from Athlone to Waterford.
• Organized and Played Charity Events – Supporting causes close to home, including Relay for Life, Darkness Into Light, Medical Aid for Palestinians, and Cardiac Risk in Youth; reflecting our commitment to community and giving back.
• Brought Bands Together for Gigs – In August 2023, we organized a large charity gig in Edenderry at O'Donoghue's Cavern Club, featuring six bands, including Mute, The Agenda, and The Ollie Hughes Band. Despite the challenges, the event was a resounding success, with incredible performances and a great atmosphere.
• Persevered Through Challenges - Continuing to play and write in honor of our late manager
/mentor and father to Alex, Chris Barry, who guided us through our early gigging days and whose influence remains at the heart of our music.

WHAT’S NEXT?
Now, with our sights set on recording and releasing our newest material, Radar is ready to channel our live energy into recordings that strike a chord with people far beyond the stage—while staying true to our rock & punk roots
