Sankofa

Sankofa (SAHN-koh-fah) – A Twi word from the Akan Tribe of Ghana that loosely translates to, “go back and get it.” Its literal translation comes from the Akan proverb, "Se wo were fi na wosan kofa a yenkyiri," meaning, "It is not taboo to go back for what you forgot (or left behind)."

Drawing upon indie rock sensibilities, the raw, authentic rock sound of 'Sankofa' captures the spirit of protest with a modern edge. His music blends heartfelt storytelling with the grit and energy of indie rock, taking listeners on a journey through themes of life, faith, protest, and the human condition. The goal is to create soul-searching protest ballads to anthemic and hard-hitting tunes, songs that tackle everything from personal reflections to the post-human condition.

*Currently working on his techniques through researching everything from Joe Hill to the IWW labour movement, and from queer theory to liberation theology, the development of a premium vinyl EP is one goal on the journey—stay tuned to follow the next move!
