San Rocco stormed onto the Irish music scene in the second half of 2023 with the release of their heavy hitting single ‘Enola’. Hotpress listed ‘Enola’ on their Tracks of the Week describing it as a “heavy, pulsating, new wave banger featuring a Peter Hook-esque bass riff and existential lyrics”.
In late 2023 the band announced that their debut EP 'People Verses’ would be released in February 2024. Commenting on the second single from the EP, ‘Bind My Hands’, Hot Press said "With tracks like this on their debut EP, the only way is up for San Rocco.” The band finished out the year supporting Sack after the singles gained attention from the legendary Dublin indie rockers.
The quintet debuted the third and final single from the EP ‘Orderly Lines’ at Whelan’s Ones to Watch. The GOO magazine described the single as “nods at Nick Cave’s more dramatic moments, boasting woozy, post-punk leaning guitars, a driving pace and a grandiose chorus so clean you could eat off it”. The song also featured heavily on Irish and UK radio as the band's status grew. ‘Orderly Lines’ was featured on John Barker’s show on Dublin City FM as well as Kieran McGuinness’ show on Nova, with the DJ saying the track “just jumped out of the stereo” at him.
‘People Verses’, the band’s debut EP was released with a celebratory gig at The Sound House Dublin. Over 130 people filled the venue to hear San Rocco launch the five track EP, the biggest gig for the band to date.
