Longlisted to play Glastonbury this year are Soundproof, a 4 piece melodic rock band hailing from the north side of Dublin. They formed in 2006 as 3 brothers, Ste, Chris and Neilo. Rosie, a close friend of theirs, later filled the role as bassist.
Since setting up the band have enjoyed rocking venues like Whelan’s, The Village, The Button Factory, The Academy, Eamon Doran’s and The Sugar Club. They've jammed alongside some of the best emerging talent on the Irish music scene and have performed on various radio stations nationwide.
In Autumn 2009 the lads went on to record their debut EP titled ‘Shoot Me’ at Pulse Recording Studios. The EP launch saw a crowd of over 250 people at The Village Venue and with a fast growing fan base "The Proof" began to make their move on the Irish music scene.
May 2010 saw the release of Soundproofs debut single “Only by the Night” which proved to be a huge success. It peaked at No.2 in the Download charts, No.44 in the Irish music charts and helped them secure their name on the bill of No Place Like Dome Music Festival and LC Fest. With positive reviews on live shows and their CD's from the likes of Hotpress Magazine, In Dublin and Heineken Music, Soundproof have undoubtedly impressed both media and music enthusiasts alike.
Continuing its success, "Only by the Night" was picked up by a top Canadian TV Network as the theme tune for a new adventure series that aired on Discovery Channel in November 2010.
In early 2011 Soundproof received interest from Glastonbury where they were longlisted to play and in June played Sea Sessions Surf Music Festival alongside Bell X1, Ziggy Marley and the Villagers.
In October 2011 Soundproof featured on the winning Backstage Compilation CD with The Irish Apprentice and went out to 90,000 readers with The Irish Daily mail.
In November 2011 they went on to release their second single titled "Lonely Heart Brigade" to a sold out show in The Workman's Club. The lads are now back in the studio working on pre-production for their debut album which is due out in 2012.
The melodic rock music and supreme live energy of the band has grasped an expanding fan base and helped Soundproof to continue writing, recording and playing music they love.
