Spearside

Punk // Trim, Meath

Spearside are an Irish three-piece lead by brothers Oisín (vocals/guitar) and Cian Walsh (vocals/bass), along with their friend Dylan Zovich (drums).

Their latest single “Not Up to Much” (March 2023) was recorded during the same sessions as their first two singles “Bus Stop” (August 2022) and “Crack in Your Brain” (November 2022), giving all three songs a sonic cohesion stemming from the Walsh brothers’ home studio in Trim Co. Meath that they built during the Covid-19 lockdowns.

BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders describes Spearside as a band that “speak their mind so well in their music”, with their first three singles also earning them fans such as Mickey Bradley (The Undertones) and Steve Lamacq of BBC 6 Music.

According to Hot Press magazine, Spearside are "set for a stellar 2023" with three more singles planned for this year. Having sold out Whelan's upstairs on 11 March, the remainder of this year will see Spearside gigging across Ireland and the UK as they continue to grow an audience who want to see a band "deliver addictive punky power-pop hooks by the truckload" in the words of Golden Plec.

Drawing on influences such as The Byrds, The Stooges, Badfinger, The Saints, Agent Orange, Dinosaur Jr., Teenage Fanclub and Brendan Benson, it’s hard to fit Spearside into a category cleanly, as they sound like everything and nothing you’ve heard before.
