Wanting to turn the tradition of brass bands on its head, Stomptown Brass began when a group of like minded brass players, known to each other from playing with the likes of Trinity Orchestra, Hozier, Kormac’s Big Band and Tandem Felix came together. The incredibly talented 10-piece urban street-funk band have got a not so secret weapon, the incredible trombonist James O’Leary, who just so happens to write some of the most exciting funk music coming out of Ireland today. Known for their original sound and high energy performances there are bluesy vocals, disco beat breakdowns and funky rhythms aplenty. The band are on an upward trajectory after an incredible run having sold out shows around the country including a headline show in The Sugar Club and playing legendary sets at Electric Picnic, Longitude and Indiependence. Known for their impromptu and boisterous street gigs, Stomptown Brass use a split kit to create a truly interactive experience and break down barriers between themselves and the audiences. Stomptown Brass do something very special, they make music to make you dance, click your fingers and shake your booty too all the while retaining the integrity of their genre. Leaving everyone else in the shade the band’s sold out Dublin Fringe show “Requiem for the Truth”, a lavish New Orleans Voodoo inspired funeral for the truth left captivated audiences crying out for more. Buoyantly infectious with irresistible charm, there is no stopping Stomptown Brass on their way to the top.
