Take the Stand are a 4 piece Alt. Rock band from Galway. The band formed in early August 2011 when Stephen Curran (Lead Guitar/Vocals) and Colin Clancy (Bass) met through a common interest in music and a desire to create there own music. They found drummer Joe Betts through auditions and after hearing his style, they knew there was a clear link between the three musicians. Aaron Mc Cormick (Rhythm Guitar/Backing Vocals), a member in previous bands with singer Stephen then joined the band to give the band its final line up.
After several weeks of jamming together the music began to flow, and by mid September the first 4 songs had been penned. Also in September, the band recorded their first demo of song 'Sirens' and entered the Townhouse Bar Battle of the Bands. Over the following 3 months in the competition, they played to ever-growing crowds, eventually finishing in 2nd place.
2011 closed for Take the Stand with a series of gigs in Galway and Donegal. These gigs proved to be a great success and firmly established the band on the original music scene.
2012 has seen the band gigging in Dublin and Galway and has also seen them release there début EP which received a great reception from Fans and critics alike. Summer 2012 will see Take the Stand take to the giging circuit once again after recruiting new drummer, Brendan Doran, so look out for the boys in festivals and venues near you.
