The GOPNIKS

Described as ‘Tom Waits on speed’ by Phil Strongman, author of Metal Box: Stories from John Lydon’s PiL (2009), The GOPNIKS are an alt-rock quintet that emerged from the Galway underground scene in 2022.

They convened over a common aim to innovate a new form of Irish music grounded in the explosive spirit of early rock n roll. Some have identified their sound as punk, post-rock, psychobilly, funkadelic ... and perhaps they are all of these things.

What's most important is that they're something new, something different.

The GOPNIKS launched their self-released debut CD single 'WHITE CAT DREAM' in Dublin at The Workman's Club Main Room on February 01 2025.

Jim O' Donohue Martin featured 'WHITE CAT DREAM' on his RTE 2XM programme Spinning Away.

Forthcoming single 'Sees Banshees in the Trees' / 'Colonel Flabdream' is due for release in May 2025.

They’re currently mastering their debut album BLAH BIZ CABARET.
