The Keds have been making music together for over a decade now.
Formed in 1997 the band has played hundreds of live shows and Irish festivals, including the Witnness Festival (now Oxegen) in 2001, as well as shows in America and Germany and high profile supports with the likes of Rancid, Less The Jake, Lars Fredericksen and the Bastards, Bowling For Soup, Buzzcocks, The 4 Of Us, Jerry Fish and The Mudbug Club among many others.
Their 2001 EP ‘The Jury’, produced by accomplished producer Pete Holidai (The Radiators), also introduced them to a wider audience thanks to several television appearances on both RTE and TG4.
In September 2007 The Keds released the album ‘Cloaks and Daggers’ which received widespread critical acclaim from some of Ireland’s top music critics including Jackie Hayden (Hot Press) who wrote “Here they’ve (THE KEDS) delivered what their attitude has promised for so long, an album big on attitude and even bigger on choruses, a store full of jagged riffage and a lyrical maturity way beyond their years” in a scorching hot 8/10 review.
Meanwhile, Tony Clayton-Lea (Irish Independent’s The Ticket) hailed the band as “a classy act” and added, “this mighty fine album blends their influences into a wholly satisfying noise. Big Choruses, nifty guitar riffs, bang, bash, pow!”
The band are currently working on material for a new album due out late 2009.
