Still riding high from a successful album release and Irish tour, The Koubas hit back ("pow!!!") with their new single, “Stars”. The crowd favourite from the lads’ debut offering was an obvious single choice, with catchy in-your-face verses and a rousing sing-along chorus. The track is currently available for download on itunes and the pop/rock outfit will mark its release with a launch upstairs in Whelans on the 27th of April 2012.
The Koubas completed their debut LP "things I don't like to talk about" in May of last year and set off on an extensive Irish tour. The first single “Get Over Yourself” was released to rave reviews, receiving widespread radio play on both regional and national stations including playlists on 98fm and Cool fm to name but a few. The album was launched to a sell-out crowd at Dublin's Crawdaddy venue and their spirited performance further fuelled the momentum behind the Dublin quartet. Fast becoming known for their energetic live shows, the four-piece have been tipped by critics for 2012.
It took frontman Stevie J a journey half way around the world to find the right ingredients to form the Koubas. On a trip to South Africa, he met drummer Jakub "kouba" and immediately hit it off. The newfound musical partnership led to a string of new songs Stevie J, many of which are featured on their debut album. Eager to continue what they started, the lads returned to Dublin and teamed up with bass player Peter King and keyboard/guitarist Robin Cahill. The Koubas were born. In 2010, The Koubas set out to record their self-produced debut album "things I don't like to talk about", which is readily available!
