Tobi Kaye “TOBI” is a Singer/composer based in Galway city. While working within the Pop genre, Tobi strays away from the norm through gospel, blues and rock influences.
He is currently gearing up for a tour of Ireland then Europe as well as recording and has recently released his first single called “Memories”. He also moonlights as a drummer with his cover band section 9 gigging around County Galway.
Performing with a 9 piece band comprising vocal and brass as well as traditional instrumentals, the current line up was cemented in February 2016 and consists of some of the finest musicians Galway has to offer.
In addition to playing events such as rockoctoberfest in the prestigious Monroe’s Tavern and the Colours Fringe festival, Tobi has also performed in Whelans, The Roisin Dubh, Seven Bar in Galway as well as other top venues in Ireland.
The most intriguing part of his work is his ability to run a dark romanticized social commentary on life, love and war. The few songs debuted show great emotional depth and intense lyrical prowess. His song “It seems” is an in depth attempt to enter the emotional state of a depression
sufferer and communicate that feeling. “Do you stand apart? cause it breaks your heart. It dawns on you your pathway is scheduled for demolition” is the hook line from the song and clearly demonstrates what he is about as a lyricist.
