Vee Mukarati

Vee Mukarati is an award winning Zimbabwean singer, saxophonist,composer and producer. His music is a mixture of jazz, soul and afro-grooves influenced by experiences of growing up in the complex socio-political atmosphere of Zimbabwe as well as traveling the world. He writes and sings compelling songs in three languages, Shona, Ndebele and English. He is a graduate of the Berkelee Jazz and Contemporary Music program offered at Newpark Music Centre in Dublin, Ireland.

After the completion of his studies in 2014, aged 26,he moved back home to live in Harare. While there he set off his solo career and quickly established himself as an innovator in the competitive capital city's entertainment scene. He is an avid collaborator who is not bound by any genre and has collaborated with artists and DJs in studio and on stages across Southern Africa and Europe including Oliver Mtukudzi (ZW), Mokoomba (ZW), Namvula (ZAM), Jamaram (GER), Baron Retif and Conception Perez (FR), Hope Masike (ZW), Jason le Roux and Giovanni Agostini (IRL).

In August 2017 his self produced album "Nyamavhuvhu Night Sounds" was internationally released under his independent record label, Primrose Records. Following it's release it was awarded a Zimbabwe National Arts Merit Award, the highest artistic accolade in the country,for the music video to the song 'Over Again' directed by Vee Mukarati and produced in collaboration with renowned painter Helen Teede.

In mid 2018, Vee Mukarati moved to Geneva, Switzerland. He has since released two singles, "Booty Call" in November 2018 and an impassioned rendition of The Beatles classic "Blackbird", released in December 2018.
