Vivamagnolia began in late 2019, rising from the embers of frontman Patrick J. Hodgen's Lo-Fi moniker Zeal. Rather quickly, Hodgen found a home for his music in the arms of the late influential record label owner Lyndon Stephens and the pair began working on the debut Vivamagnolia release on Quiet Arch Records. The diverse "Queen of the Rodeo EP" would land in full on March 27th 2020 capturing Hodgen's taste for experimental indie-rock, featuring immediate and sprawling tracks alike. Tracks like "Den of Dogs", a downbeat alt-country number reminiscent of On The Beach era Neil Young and standout single, "Tugboat the Great", channelled elements of with driving distortion, off kilter rhythm and furious pop sensibility, the latter attaining a spot on Northern Irish music publication Chordblossom's Top 25 songs of the year. Hodgen continues to work on new music with the help of a dedicated band consisting of Matt Holland (Valium & Dark Tropics) and Calvin Wells (Doctor Zoot) and with releases scheduled for 2021 and beyond, the future looks bright for one of the most unique unsigned artists of the last few years.
