Wifeswap is the project of Offaly native Joe Brody, currently based in Dublin. (singer, rhythm guitar) who is joined by Jasper Ryan (guitar), Oisin O’Donnell (bass) and Lorcan Connolly (drums).
Following the debut single “Inertia” which secured the band a place in the top 30 bands in Ireland by The Neon Room Dublin at the end of 2023, the band returned with the 7" double A-side record "Spiritus Mundi / Happy Days" which was released at a sold-out Whelan's upstairs headline. The limited edition self-release is the band’s entry into physical releases, featuring hand stamping and numbering by the band themselves.
Blending the sounds of The Velvet Underground, Arab Strap and Whipping Boy, Wifeswap debuted in October 2022 at a sold-out Workman’s Cellar gig. Since then they’ve taken to the stage at Whelan's Summer & Winter Ones to Watch & in support of Peter Doherty at his sold out Opium show in April 2023. In early 2024, the band has featured four times at The Workman's Club bank holiday events curated by Trevor Dietz (Manager, Fontaines D.C.) Accompanying a cacophony of art rock ambitions are poignant lyrics inspired by Samuel Beckett & William S. Burroughs.
In November 2024, the band will support Been Stellar alongside Cardinals in The Workman's Club.
