“Irish artist Lauren Hannan, better known as YINYANG, continues to establish herself as one of the most distinctive and exciting artists in recent memory. Her subversive and blisteringly cutting edge sound is without peer, crafting punk-edged hip-hop that drips with an effortless sense of composure and cool among her controlled chaos.” - CLOUT
“YINYANG is a force to be reckoned with. The Irish hip hop riser refuses to bow down to the rules, a brave and singular voice with a punk-like sense of rebellion.” - CLASH
Following a year of UK and Irish support slots with heavyweight striders Dos Monos, Fat Dog and touring with Enola Gay, before making debut festival appearances at Latitude and Electric Picnic, YINYANG starts 2024 fierce with a string of UK and Ireland dates supporting Shelf Lives on their UK tour, supporting Enola Gay with Gurriers at Limelight in Belfast and an upcoming show with YARD in London.
Her live show is an audio-visual experience with a self programmed light show which serves a murderous sonic cacophony of controlled chaos where elements of hip hop, dark electronic and punk blend as if they’ve been waiting to synthesize. It’s dripping with cool.
Born in London lockdown by Co. Antrim bred Lauren Hannan, who taught herself how to produce music to cultivate a unique sound that hits different. Expect heavy 808s, genre-bending riffs and intricate, idiosyncratic lyrics to make you dive deep into your mind, in a rough yet playful way.
Influenced by strong female artists like Little Simz, Sampa The Great, Ash Nikko, M.I.A and film influences from Quentin Tarantino, YINYANG has mastered the art of blending emotion with instruments. You are welcomed to her haunted Haus of fun.
YINYANG has achieved electric success so far, with tracks being played on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 and BBC Introducing. YINYANG has three tracks to come out this year off her upcoming EP, out in October. She has just taken on Liquid Management (Nuha Ruby Rah, CLTDRP), is currently building a strong team and working towards her debut album in 2025.
The rapid growth and potential is astounding for a DIY solo artist, with the exception of extra production and mixing by Tom Cane (Gorgon City, George Fitzgerald), Iain Berryman (Wolf Alice, Beabadoobee), Freddy Sheed (Lewis Capaldi, The Japanese House) and Hinako Omori.
